Vienna

To restart our programme of overseas tours, we have chosen the wonderful city of Vienna, for a visit from Monday 6 May 2024, returning on Friday 10 May.

This will be the ideal introduction to Vienna, exploring its evolution as an Imperial capital through its architecture, art collections and musical culture.

The tour, organised by Heritage Travel exclusively for us, will include guided tours of museums and galleries, a visit to the famous Schönbrunn Palace, and a river cruise on the Danube to Melk, where we will visit the vast Benedictine abbey set on a rocky outcrop overlooking the river. The tour will be led by a local English-speaking guide.

Dutch Art Treasures

The Arts Society Tenterden have invited members of our Society to join them on a visit they are organising to Amsterdam from Monday 15th May 2023, returning on Friday 19th May.

The Golden Age in Amsterdam witnessed a period of enormous prosperity, during a time when the Dutch Empire spanned the globe. Mercantile wealth spawned the extensive construction of waterways, houses, churches and civic buildings, resulting in a beautiful city at the heart of its canal ring. Dutch Art also flourished during this time, with painters such as Vermeer, Rembrandt, Frans Hals, van Ruisdael and Jan Steen at the peak of their prowess. The works produced by these masters are best appreciated in the cities where they worked, in the galleries which boast the finest examples of the genre, against backdrops which have changed little in the intervening years.

The tour, organised by Heritage Travel for TAS Tenterden, will include guided tours of museums and galleries and a canal trip as well as visits outside Amsterdam to Delft Porcelain factory, Haarlem and The Hague. The highlight of the tour will be the Vermeer Exhibition, presented by the Rijksmuseum in collaboration with the Mauritshuis in The Hague. It promises to be an exceptional exhibition offering a presentation of the life and works of Johannes Vermeer, displaying almost two-thirds of his paintings from all over the world. For a full itinerary and details, please click here.

The cost of the tour is £1,230 per person with a single supplement of £340, which includes coach travel from pick up points around the Tenterden area to and from Gatwick and 4 star hotel accommodation, but does not include the airfare - please see the brochure.

It sounds like a wonderful itinerary, so if you are interested in taking up the opportunity to join this Arts Society tour, please email me with your name, postal address and email address by 29 September at the latest. I will then pass these on to TAS Tenterden, who will contact you direct with further information and booking details. If you do decide to book, I understand a deposit of £400 will be required at the time of booking.
